magazine cover LR

 1) Add your finished magazine cover as a JPEG image.

2) Type up your feedback from your teacher. If you've received this by email, you can copy and paste it across - WWW and EBIs. You don't need to include a mark or grade if you don't want to.

Mark out of 15 for Media Language: 13

Estimated A Level coursework grade: A

WWW: This is very, very good – your cover genuinely sits alongside the real examples and I think many people would struggle to pick out the A Level work in amongst the professional covers. That is an incredibly good sign – the requirement for A* at A Level is ‘approaching professional standards’ and in terms of photography and brand identity you are absolutely on that standard. Indeed, there are just a couple of minor elements that we need to look at in terms of reaching full marks.

EBI: Ultimately, I agree 100% with your evaluation regarding the lack of regular magazine cover conventions on your chosen brand. This perhaps makes it a little more difficult to award full marks. The only other factor is whether the image is slightly blurred/out of focus? I’m inclined to think it’s deliberate but I’m just trying to flag anything a moderator might criticise when we send the real coursework to AQA next year. However, the main message is that this is top-quality work and exactly the level we’re aiming for next year.

LR: See blog

3) Consider your mark against the mark scheme above. What are the strengths of your production based on the the mark scheme? Think about magazine cover conventions and the media language techniques you have used to communicate with your audience (e.g. mise-en-scene, camera shot etc.)

I feel as though i did well in this assignment as i did archive above my predicted grade.i could have used cover lines and other key conventions in order to convey more to the audience and keep conventions.

4) Look at the mark scheme again. What can you do to move your mark higher and, if required, move up a level?

Like i said previously, i feel as though i did well as far as copying my original magazine cover however it did lack other magazine cover conventions that in future i will try and add if we do something similar again

5) What would be one piece of advice you would give a student about to start the same magazine cover project you have just completed?

stick with your initial thought, if you think it might not work or look bad, ignore that and just go for it, worse case scenario you will still upload you idea of a magazine cover and as long as it has conventions of a magazine cover no matter how ugly it is, there's no way you can fail.
