narrative

1) Give an example from film or television that uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium.

Drqgon Ball Super-Broly:

equilibrium- Everyone is living their normal lives, we are introduced to the character brolly who was outcasted to a planet since birth with his father and they are living a normal life with no disruptions. (everything is well and there are no problems)

disequilibrium- The antagonists crew (Frieza force) have found Broly on an outcasted island and took him and his father to their leader to where brolly sand his father were manipulated by Frieza the main antagonist. this led them to bring destruction to the planet earth where the protagonists had to fight Broly in order to save the earth.

new equilibrium- They stopped the fight by bringing brolly to a new planet teaching him the truth of what has happened. he makes amends with the protagonist Goku and everyone continues to live in peace.

2) Complete the activity on page 1 of the Factsheet: find a clip on YouTube of the opening of a new TV drama series (season 1, episode

1). Embed the clip in your blog and write an analysis of the narrative markers that help establish setting, character and plot.

Here we are welcomed by a flashback of what seemed to be a major event in the plot of this story. we are told about a rampage this nine tailed beast went on and how big of a threat it was to all the local villages. we are then introduced to what the narrator has referred to as "ninjas" and how before taking any precautions they must wait for "the fourth homage" judging by this call, it is most likely that this is their current leader and probably the strongest amongst them. The fourth homage shows up and saves the village in return for his life. This shows clear connotations that he is a hero. The scene switches to a baby crying for a short amount of time and then the suspenseful action filled scene is shifted by qn upbeat song that starts playing and a colourful representation of the series title is shown. this contrasts with the previous scenes shown as they were linked to death and fighting however now this is all uplifted by a nice song and colourful atmosphere. This short scene also has the shows name included which helps establish the show as a whole. This then cuts to a character who resembles the baby who was crying after the flashback. His character design is also differentiated between other people shown within this scene followed by the fact that he is doing things these "normal people" wouldn't do which helps indicate to the audience that he is the main character.
